I would ideally like for it to be as easy as "clicking go." I don't want to have to install the OS, then restore system state data then restore Domain services/AD. How easy the recovery process is makes a big deal.

I am wondering if we should continue to use Backup Exec 2012 for our disaster recovery solution. Have any of you had experience in using the SDR tools to perform a complete bare metal restore of a DC and Exchange server? Right now we are dealing with a dsl line but I am pushing hard to get cable put in which is looking promising. We want to be able to replicate this data offsite so keeping backups small is a big plus. Upon reading the process seems a bit complicated. The problem I am facing is that I do not know or have a way to test a bare metal recovery of our domain controller and our exchange server. Now I am not worried about our backup server as I am backing that up with a 3rd party tool so recovery of that will be very easy. We want to be able to recover 4 servers (All server 2008 R2), as well as all of our data. We are planning for basically a worst case scenario situation. Protect remote servers using the appropriate Remote Agent.

Install, configure, and manage the Veritas Backup Exec Central Admin Server Option. This will start the SDR Wizard and show an option to choose a server other than the current one.

Note: The BE Disaster Recovery Wizard can be installed separately on a different server and run from the Start Menu. Backup a physical machine and convert to virtual based on a schedule. Click on the Backup Exec (BE) icon, choose Configuration and Settings and then Create Disaster Recovery Disk. In light of discussing some major changes in our disaster recovery plan, I am wondering how easy the sdr stuff is to use. Install the SDR disk creation wizard, create an SDR disk imagen and recover a server with SDR.
